Time to start planning for holiday parties! You may not want to spend a lot of money on your party this year, but you still want it to be something that people will remember. Here are some ideas for low-budget holiday party themes and decorations so you can throw the best bash in town this December.

Send Virtual Invitations

You may not be able to afford invitations, but you are more than welcome to send virtual ones! People will appreciate saving some money on stamps and there is nothing better than receiving an email reminder about the party before it starts.

Focus On Food

Most people focus on decorations or entertainment at their holiday parties. Why not make this year’s theme about food? Serve traditional holiday dishes, like turkey with all the fixings. You can even invite your guests to bring their favorite dish!

Do a Hot Coco Bar instead of Alcohol

Instead of serving alcohol at your party, do a Hot Cocoa Bar! You can put out candy and marshmallows for people to decorate their own hot cocoa. This is perfect because it’s warm enough outside that you don’t need the heat turned up in your house or apartment.

Make Your Own Party Mix

You can also do a “make your own party mix” bar. Put out bowls of nuts, pretzels, Chex cereal, and other things you like to put in your bowl of cheesy goodness with some seasoning for people to make their own holiday snack mixes. This is perfect because it’s low-budget and the ingredients are usually things you have on-hand.

Make a White Elephant Gift Exchange Game

Finally, do a white elephant gift exchange instead of buying gifts for everyone! This is perfect because it allows people to save their money and gives them something fun to talk about after the party ends. Just make sure that if someone brings this as their gift, they have a gift to exchange as well.
